Green Room On Air with Ray Renati
Arts:Performing Arts
Come and see FRANKENSTEIN at Ohlone College in Fremont, California.
The slogan "It's Alive" brings to mind images of a giant monster slowly approaching, with silver wires protruding from its neck. The Ohlone College Theatre and Dance department is putting a spooky twist on Mary Shelley's classic 1818 novel Frankenstein. This is the perfect event for you if you're looking for a good scare after Halloween. This new adaptation by Nick Dear and directed by Michael Navarra tells the classic story from the creature's perspective, bringing a new and more poetic perspective to the tale. Frankenstein's creature is childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form. He is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes and increasingly desperate and vengeful, he determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. The story highlights the importance of scientific responsibility, cognitive development, and the nature of good and evil through a thrilling and deeply disturbing gothic tale. Audiences will get a chance to see this masterpiece beginning November 11 at the Smith Center.
