Episode: 00060
Release Date: June 21, 2021
Description: Imagine entering the world of law enforcement before you can legally drink! In this week’s episode, Kristen Lottman explained how she began her career in law enforcement with the Mesa (AZ) Police Department when she was 19 years old before she got her degree or even knew what crime analysis was. Kristen emphasizes the importance of networking and asking questions whenever needed -- you never know what doors you may be opening by just making a connection! One of those doors was an administrative analysis project that improved the police department’s productivity process, saving the city over $100k in costs, and earning Kristen her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Kristen’s badge story involves a domestic violence situation that led to a homicide and sentencing of multiple people to 20+ years; Kristen walked us through the investigative process, prosecution phase, and how the verdict was ultimately served. Kristen is currently a crime analyst with the Mesa Police Department and the IACA Secretary.
