On 22 December, news broke that 37-year-old Baloch human rights activist Karima Baloch’ body was found floating in a Toronto lake under mysterious circumstances. Her age, identity and history of receiving threats from the Pakistani state has lent her case to direct comparisons with Baloch journalist and dissident Sajid Hussain, whose body was similarly discovered this April in a river a month after he went missing near Uppsala, Sweden. He had been living as a political asylee.
