We've all made training mistakes. Myself included! But we should recognize these mistakes and try not to make them again. In this episode, I hope to bring to light some of these common pitfalls and how we can avoid them. I hope this makes you consider what you're doing and what changes you can make to improve your training!
Here are my notes:
1. Not enough variation in training. No intention to the training.
2. Too much specificity too soon
3. Not enough planned recovery in training & after racing (season)
4. Increasing volume & intensity at the same time
5. Not taking care of the ancillary training. Including Lack of hydration, sleep, & proper nutrition
6. Racing too often
7. Can’t devote enough time to training
8. Trying to make up runs by stacking the volume into the next day or days
9. Being obsessed with the numbers (volume, HRT, pace, etc.) instead of enjoying the process
10. Running through an injury.
11. Not having the right resources to answer your questions.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like me to dive deeper into any of these topics.
