The Canadian Council of the Blind Podcast
Business:Non-Profit
Sabrina Knappe and Jeff Blum from McGill University’s Shared Reality Lab give an introduction to a new project, being carried out in strategic partnership with Gateway Navigation CCC Ltd and the Canadian Council of the Blind. The goal is to create rich renderings of graphics you encounter while browsing the internet, using audio and touch (haptic) interfaces. Sabrina and Jeff talk about the project’s approach, how it will compare to existing tools, and give some examples of how technology like spatialized audio can help convey information more concisely than ordinary text-to-speech.
