1,001 Albums: Albums 0038: Meshuggah - obZen / Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Square Club 1963

2015-03-04
Gooooood evening, perverts!  Tonight I’ve got a chaotic Swedish metal album by Meshuggah called obZen, and a live soul album by Sam Cooke called Live at the Harlem Square Club 1963 (even though the album was released in 1985). The Meshuggah album will probably be too much for many of you who have the traditional 4/4 way of writing music ingrained in your heads.  Even though they do use the 4/4 time signature, it varies quite a lot.  I think it’s fascinating, brutal, and a well-deserved entry on my 1,001 list. The Sam Cooke album is pretty awesome, too.  I don’t know if I’d put it on outside the context of this project, but I did enjoy it.  It’s another one of those albums you kind of have to be in the mood for.  Good stuff, nonetheless.
