Ballinasloe fuel merchant urges Government to clampdown on sale of black market coal

A Galway member of a new group representing solid fuel merchants is calling for the Government to clampdown on the sale of black market coal. Solid Fuel Merchants Ireland is claiming that coal worth €56m was illegally brought into the state from Northern Ireland last year. A ban on smoky coal came into play last year, which stops the selling of traditional coals, however it's claimed there is no enforcement of the rules.
