Ballinasloe councillors have voted to pass a 9 million euro area budget for next year.
The allocation for 2023 is an increase of more than 200 thousand euro on the figure for this year.
At a meeting held in the town last evening, councillors narrowly voted to accept the budget by three to two, with one absent.
But all were in agreement that the funding falls far short of what's needed to provide services and maintain roads.
Councillor Michael Connolly was one of those to reject the budget - and he explains why.
