Nearly 3 years after Tim Burton wowed audiences with his vision of Batman and the Joker, he returned Batman to the big screen. Retaining Michael Keaton as Batman while adding two new now iconic roles of Catwoman and Penguin, critics loved the film while audiences weren't quite sure. Causing a stir amongst families, children were frightened by the film, which caused Warner Bros. to not pursue a sequel with Tim Burton.
