When he’s not surfing, standup paddling or foiling, Zane might be gliding through the wind kitesurfing or windsurfing. One of his favorite pastimes is fishing with his father or diving in the beautiful waters of Maui. At least 6 days a week he enjoys paddling, swimming or body surfing as part of his training routine.
Zane is also an avid dirt bike racer and loves to spend time flying through the Maui mountains with his Dad and his brother, Matty. The way Zane lives every day to the fullest has become synonymous with his nickname, InZane.
Zane has been fortunate enough to travel and compete all around the world. At the early age of only 11 years old, Zane was already competing internationally and hasn’t stopped since. He has been around the globe quite a few times by now.
Wherever he goes, his journals travel with him. Through these journals Zane has collected a lifetime of stories, adventures, and a powerful message to share. In 2017 Zane published his first book, Beneath the Surface. (Available for sale on this website and on Amazon.)
Zane had the honor of competing in the Ultimate Waterman event in New Zealand in 2016 and 2017. It is an event comprised of 8 different watersports. Eight of the top athletes in each discipline live and compete together. He was fortunate to gain his second win at The Ultimate Waterman event in 2017. In his book, you can share these and so many other adventures with him. For example, he shares the exact pages from his journals that led to his earning the ISA World title in Fiji in 2017.
Open, vulnerable and a master story-teller, Zane welcomes you to this online community. Conversation is a huge part of the community.
Working with young people and inspiring the next generation of eco-stewards is a high priority for Zane. His InZane SUPer Grom Clinics have been provided to young people around the world, often getting kids into the water, swimming and surfing for the first time in their lives. Respect for the ocean and beach cleanups are always part of the fun.

Dr Shawn P. Tierney DC, RMSK, is a musculoskeletal sonologist and leader in the regenerative medicine field. He has a pioneer certificate from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine for the initial RMSK certification. He is an internationally recognized teacher of musculoskeletal ultrasound and human sono-anatomy. He has taught over 70 ultrasound cadaver courses and 30 diagnostic hands-on courses with MSKUS. He has taught as a recognized expert in Taiwan, Australia, Tasmania, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada and in the United States. He is honored to have taught at Naval and Marine Bases as well as having taught VA physicians to perform stellate ganglion blocks. He has taught at the American Academy of Orthopedic Medicine and the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Tierney has done extensive work in sports medicine rehabilitation and nutrition during his entire career. Dr. Tierney received his degree from The Los Angeles College of Chiropractic where he was student body president. Prior to studying Chiropractic, Dr. Tierney was an environmental organic chemist at APPL Labs in California. Dr. Tierney was a personal trainer in 1988 and was ranked 3rd nationally as a natural body builder, having competed in 19 different bodybuilding competitions. Dr. Tierney also won his age group in the top International Stand-Up Paddle Competition (The Pacific Paddle Games) twice. Dr. Tierney has treated members of the US Water Polo Team, the US Swim Team, the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, Professional Surfing, Professional Boxing, Professional UFC, Martial Arts, Professional Skateboarding, Professional Golfing, Olympic Volleyball, Professional Bodybuilding, Professional Dancers, Movie Stars, Professional Musicians, and most significantly Professional Stand-Up Paddle Board Athletes.
