When Women Circle Up We Can Heal Ourselves and Change the World.
Our technological umbilical cords and Online connections have contributed to the growth of an enormous virtual community for many women all over the world. I facilitate a couple of online groups and enjoy the interaction. However, what we need more of, is face-to-face, in person gatherings of friends and acquaintances sharing our struggles, sacred ceremonies, nourishment, and big hugs.
We have so many responsibilities, and the roles that we play can often overshadow our true voice. I spend a lot of time running my small businesses, raising a daughter, nurturing a marriage, and being with my family and friends. Carving out time to join my soul sisters in a sacred circle, sweat lodge or drum circle is a sacred gift that transports me to a place where I can shed the masks I wear and the roles I play in the world. I circle up to actively listen and to be heard without judgment. I circle up to prepare and share a nourishing meal, offer a shoulder or ask for support.
When I sit in circle I learn about the joys and struggles of the women in my community. I practice being patient with personalities who trigger me. I practice being fully present. I learn to be sweet with myself and supportive of others. I remember that I am not alone. I remember that I am human.
When I needed an energetic cord cutting to release of decades-old wounds and stories with my Dad, I circled up with my spiritual teacher and eight more beautiful souls, who held sacred space for me as I shared my truth and then let it go. This particular sacred circle was a precious gift from the Divine. Two months after our gathering, my father passed away. I realize now that being witnessed in circle and initiating a cord cutting ceremony prepared me to say goodbye.
I am blessed to be immersed in the sacred work that allows me to celebrate my sisters, ask for support, cut energetic cords, and release old stories. Every time I gather with other women, I am grateful to experience a deep dive into the wisdom, power, and magic of the Divine Feminine through our sacred work.
Do some research in your local community to find a women's circle.
