NASA’s huge Space Launch System (SLS) looks like it may be sidelined in favor of private space companies. The SLS has missed several deadlines and with NASA’s goal of launching around the moon in June 2020, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine told the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation that the agency is now looking to private industries like Space X - even though they do not yet have a launch vehicle able to carry Orion to its lunar mission.
