Last month, we did a road trip down to Melbourne. And we stopped by to visit my Auntie Julie (Julie Kozaris) for lunch. After lunch, I said, "Hey, how about I record you on a podcast?" And she was awfully good about it, and Neil got the equipment out and we did a podcast. Julie is an award winning artist, and a talented graphic designer who designed packaging and logos for many Australian brands in the 1970s and 1980s. Julie speaks about the frugal influence of her mother (my Nana), the muse for the iconic Skipping Girl Vinegar neon sign that most Melbournians know well. We talk about good food (she's an amazing cook), and also about marrying into a Macedonian family and learning about a new culture and traditions. And Julie also shares about how she overcame adversity after her husband's business collapsed at the beginning of the recession that 'we had to have'.
