Questions for Revelation 11
Summary of last week’s class:
After the plagues and punishments of chapter 9, John described a mighty angel coming on the scene with great power (Rev. 10:1-3). The angel had a message that was going to come to pass soon and there would no longer be a delay (Rev. 10:5-7). John was told to take the scroll and consume it. Though there were sweet aspects to God’s message there also were hard truths that John needed to digest and be willing and ready to share (Rev. 10:8-10). After John eats the scroll he is told that he must go again and prophesy to many peoples and nations about the things he has heard. The message of devastation for God’s enemies needed to be embraced and announced, but God’s people needed to be ready to endure hardship as they patiently waited for God to vindicate them. Chapter 11 contains the message John was told to eat and consume. In chapter 11 we find out what made the message sweet but also what made it bitter for God’s people.
