Welcome! and Thank you for listening. The California International Marathon is in the books. If you are a runner, I highly recommend this race. I have been running marathons since 2001 and have completed over 25 marathon races. I did not grow up a runner but started running in my late thirties as a way to stay in shape and fend off diabetes and cardiovascular disease. I grew up golfing which seems a lot different than running, but there are some similarities. There is a large mental component to both sports. Your head can certainly get in the way. I always thought you could tell a lot about a person by how they handled themselves on the golf course. Running a marathon is quite similar in that there are obstacles along the way with the ultimate outcome affected by how one confronts those obstacles. If that sounds a lot like life, well, then it is. Not every day is a good one, but there is always something to be learned and cherished.
I discuss my race in this episode, and yes, I chose to race this marathon not just run it to complete the task. I hope you find my account entertaining and can apply my lessons to your own challenges be they physical or nutritional. After all, life is a marathon and you can affect the outcome by how you choose to live it. Enjoy the journey and learn the lessons along the way.
