A Ballygar GP, and former IMO President, is warning that capacity may not be able to cope with Government plans to extend the free GP service. It's proposed that the free doctor service will be extended to all six and seven-year-olds and to those with a mean household income of €46,000.

However, the Irish Medical Organisation is warning the proposed extension will overwhelm the service and lead to long delays.
