Taoiseach gives Sean Canney committment farm families will be exempt from Residential Zoned Land Tax

The Taoiseach has given a committment to local TD Sean Canney that farm families will be exempt from the Residential Zoned Land Tax.

The Galway East TD raised the issue in the Dáil after hearding concerns from farmers the tax would force them to sell family land.

The annual tax will be calculated at 3 per cent of the market value of land, and will apply from next year.
