The Hubble Space Telescope has managed to obtain an image of the farthest star ever known, at 12.9 billion light years away. Named Earendel, it it is also one of the oldest stars known, having formed a mere billion years after the Big Bang. How did Hubble obtain a photo of such an old and distant star?
