Black Americans have been disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS since the epidemic’s beginning, and that disparity has deepened over time. Racism, discrimination, HIV stigma, and homophobia affect the overall health and well-being of African American gay and bisexual men. Today we join Dr. Darnell Motley, Sexual Health Researcher at the University of Chicago to discuss the history of HIV/AIDS and how it shows up in Black communities, the obstacles to accessing quality care, and some of the overlap between COVID–19 and HIV as it relates to response and inequity.
