Living your Life Free of Limitations
Today’s talk is on a very important topic, Realizing how to be free of limitations.
These lyrics came to mind when I was thinking of that subject
They were written by Kris Kristoferson..
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free
Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues
And buddy, that was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.
The insightful word there is Nothing left to lose.
When we are held down by lots of obligations, and can be controlled by others, and many concerns.
It can be challenging to be free to do what you want.
Sometimes we don’t even realize that we aren’t free to do what we want til something comes up, and all of a sudden you realize, gosh I guess I can’t do that, because…….
How many people do you know who live their life free of limitations.
What makes it possible for them ?
I could be having money, or having a job that allows them to do whatever they want. They Could be young or retired.
Being free of limitations is a very liberating mind set.
From a higher perspective our souls are free.
But we can easily become trapped in cage of our our own
Making.
Our mind is very subject to maya’s illusions, and it’s hard to believe that we can break free of our own cages. There’s a karma aspect to this.
There is also an emotional desire not to be tied down.
Yet, we can be free within that space of our meditation.
We can pray and affirm about freeing our self of limitations.
There’s a zen koan about this
A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.
Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!
Some interpret this as being in the moment and being free. One it as getting distracted from our life situation, by eating the strwaerry.
But either way the freedom of being eaten by the tiger or eating the
Strawberry breaks us out of running.
