Farmington Mayor Tommy Roberts and City Manager Rob Mayes discuss the reasoning why the Farmington City Council is considering approving a 2/8ths percent gross receipts tax increase. Both say they increase is necessary to maintain city services as the state of New Mexico begins to phase out "hold harmless" payments beginning this year.
