Until recently, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn was the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He challenged what he calls the “willful ignorance” of the Obama administration and lost his job.

Fortunately, while Gen. Flynn left the Army, his public service continues. Yesterday, he warned that a regional sectarian war has already begun in the Middle East. It is reckless to pretend we can do a fatally flawed nuclear deal with the prime-mover behind the conflagration – jihadist Iran – and abandon our ally, Israel, without pouring gas on the fire.

When asked what he would recommend to President Obama on the eve of the expected completion of a “framework agreement” with Iran, the general said simply: “Stop all engines on this nuclear deal.”

Good advice. It behooves the rest of us to ensure it’s taken.
