Sermon #561
This week we begin to look at the parables of Jesus, and why he told them. In the parable of the sower we see four different types of soil, and only one of them produces fruit. The question before us today is, which of these soils describes us? Are we the hard-packed pathway with the hardened hearts against the truth of God's word? Do we have rocky soil in which the seed springs up and withers under adversity? Is our faith choked by the cares of the world? Or do we receive the word of God and understand it, and yield an abundance in return? If your faith is not yielding fruit, which of these soils do you think describes you? Probing questions that demand our consideration are before us today.
