America Stands For Religious Freedom

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Religious freedom. Those two words are central to our Constitution and the exceptional America it has made possible. Unfortunately, in many other countries no such freedom exists for faiths other than that practiced by the majority. This is especially true of nations where the totalitarian Islamic doctrine of shariah is the law of the land. In such places, even being a member of minority communities like Christians or Jews can get you killed.

Religious freedom. Those two words are central to our Constitution and the exceptional America it has made possible.

Unfortunately, in many other countries no such freedom exists for faiths other than that practiced by the majority. This is especially true of nations where the totalitarian Islamic doctrine of shariah is the law of the land. In such places, even being a member of minority communities like Christians or Jews can get you killed.

America needs to monitor and oppose such practices. That job has been performed for years by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. Yet, one Senator, Dick Durban of Illinois, is trying to terminate this commission – as soon as this weekend.

America needs to continue to stand up for religious freedom. Sen. Durban must not keep it from doing so.
