Egypt’s New Democracy?

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Every day brings fresh reminders of that old adage, be careful what you wish for.  Earlier this year, President Obama announced that the United States no longer supported its long-time ally, Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak. Back in February, Mr. Obama declared that the Mubarak had to go, right away, ostensibly to clear the way for a pro-Western democratic alternative. Unfortunately, even then, it was apparent that the likely beneficiary of the Egyptian revolution would be the totalitarian, Islamist organization known as the Muslim Brotherhood.  Team Obama should have known that the triumph of shariah-adherent jihadists of the Muslim Brotherhood would be bad for Egypt, bad for its people and bad for our interests. That prospect is becoming more imminent by the day.  We may reap the whirlwind for President Obama’s wishful thinking.
