Blind Ideology

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Last week, we learned that President Obama is actively considering reducing the U.S. nuclear arsenal to as few as 300 weapons. This week, Vladimir Putin, the rabidly anti-American autocrat who runs Russia, announced that he plans to modernize his country’s nuclear arsenal with 400 new intercontinental-range ballistic missiles. Unfortunately, the Russians are not the only ones ignoring Mr. Obama’s bid to rid the world of nuclear arms. China, Pakistan, North Korea and Iran are among those hostile to us who are also building up their arsenals. Under these circumstances, it is downright reckless to be pursuing what amounts to unilateral U.S. disarmament. Thirty-four Members of Congress have warned Mr. Obama that such decisions must be made on the basis not of “blind ideology,” but what will deter attack against this country. Amen.
