Speculation is rising that the Obama administration may do still more to appease Afghans incensed about the inadvertent burning of some defaced Qurans.

Former CIA officer Clare Lopez has reported that, after serial apologies to Muslims, some seem to think we now need to prosecute the servicemen responsible for accidently torching these books.

Ms. Lopez warns that the Obama administration might be able to find legal pretexts to turn over the troops involved to an Afghan shariah court for punishment. There the penalty could be death.

It is hard to imagine a more outrageous and debilitating blow to the morale of our forces, or a more powerful boost to the resolve of our enemies. No American should tolerate such a betrayal of our troops or more symbolic act of submission to shariah.
