Mali

The war between jihadists and the West has a new front: the West African nation of Mali, where Islamists now control an area roughly the size of France, which formerly colonized the place.

Declaring that al Qaeda-associated elements must not be allowed to establish and operate from new safe-havens, the French have recently started bombing them in northern Mali.  Reportedly, they are being helped by the United States and the UK. Ironically, this effort to roll-back the territorial gains of shariah-adherent jihadis comes at the same time the French, British and Americans are helping other Islamists to take over Syria. There are even 750 places in France itself that are no-go zones for non-Muslims. The West must defeat efforts to impose shariah worldwide.  To do so, however, will require clarity, competence and consistency.
