Hitting the GDP Wall

America's faltering economic recovery just hit a significant speed bump.  If Congress and the President fail to act right away, it will soon hit the proverbial wall. We learned yesterday that the nation's Gross Domestic Product sharply dropped because defense expenditures associated with U.S. operations in Afghanistan are winding down.  That tenth-of-a-percent downturn occurred after four years of sputtering growth.  Unfortunately, it is but a foretaste of what is coming if another $500 billion is stripped from the Pentagon's budget as part of what is known as "sequestration."
