Drone Strikes on Turncoats

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Eleven U.S. senators threatened to block John Brennan's appointment as CIA director to extract a legal justification for the Obama administration's use of drone attacks in foreign countries to kill senior leaders of al Qaeda and associated groups who happen to be American citizens. A Justice Department memo released yesterday helps allay legitimate concerns about the potential abuse of such a practice.  These include reasonable requirements that the targeted individual poses an imminent threat of violent attack and that capturing him is "infeasible." In the real world, we must be able quickly to neutralize such threats, even if traitorous Americans are responsible for them.  There are many reasons for the Senate to keep John Brennan from politicizing and otherwise undermining the Central Intelligence Agency.  This policy should not be one of them.
