A Soldier’s Pledge

Yesterday, a friend sent me a link to an amazing video celebrating what has made our country truly exceptional. It’s called “A Soldier’s Pledge” and is set to a moving speech by President Reagan. It makes clear what we must be if our country is to be exceptional, and perhaps even to survive, in the future.

In the video, the President’s words are accompanied by images of those whose valor has become the stuff of legend in our nation’s wars. But it’s not simply about their service and their sacrifice. The President’s narrative makes clear the cause for which they fought and died: freedom and its defense against enemies determined to destroy it.
