President Trump believes it is a national security imperative to protect America’s steel and aluminum industries. Whatever one thinks of his controversial decision to impose tariffs for that purpose, Mr. Trump’s announcement compels us to recognize that hostile powers – and even “allied” nations – are waging economic warfare against this country, and we must fight back.
For example, Communist China has subjected America to “unrestricted warfare” for at least two decades through techniques like currency manipulation, technology theft, cyber attacks, resource monopolies, espionage and influence operations.
Columnist Richard Manning warns that a Singapore-based company with suspected ties to China will try to force a hostile take-over tomorrow of Qualcomm, the U.S. leader in 5G Internet technology that’s expected to power the so-called “Internet of things.” We can’t afford to have such sensitive know-how in the hands of those waging unrestricted warfare against us.
