One of My Fave Moments: The Challenges of DEI Work
DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) work can be immensely rewarding but also quite rigorous. It requires an ongoing and layered process of learning. It challenges frames, reframes, and shifts perspectives on things that are personal to people, inviting professionals to constantly question, reassess, and adjust their attitudes and approaches. Krystal and I discuss the unique challenges DEI practitioners face. We emphasize the critical need for self-exploration and emotional resilience in our professions. Krystal and I highlight that practitioners should commit to deeply understanding and managing their emotions, capable of sitting with discomfort. This forms an essential bridge to facilitate growth in others, underlining the need for DEI practitioners to practice what they preach consistently.
