Fuel Choice Now

Have you noticed that many of the increasingly ominous situations around the world involve places with oil, like Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Libya and Venezuela? As those crises worsen, oil exports will likely be disrupted.

All other things being equal, the result will be still higher prices at the pump.

But there is an alternative to transferring more billions of dollars to the OPEC cartel and other, often hostile oil-exporting nations: We can rapidly and inexpensively begin turning some of our windfall natural gas supplies into methanol for use as a transportation fuel.

By diversifying the ways our cars are powered, we can hedge against future reductions in oil supplies and break OPEC’s ability to manipulate oil prices. That means less money for enemies of this country, and more security for us here.
