Local TD Sean Canney raises concerns with ACRES scheme funding

Galway East TD Sean Canney is raising concerns with the funding available for the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme.

It's claimed thousands of farmers look set to be denied adequate funding under the Government's ACRES scheme due to miscalculations by the Department of Agriculture.

The Department budgeted for 30,000 applications but so far, over 46,000 have been received.

Deputy Canney says if extra funding isn't made available, many farmers will end up working at a loss.
