Welcome back to episode 50 of the Nourish Your Potential podcast. I feel so lucky to have registered clinical psychologist Dr Lotte Williams joining me in this episode. Originally from the south of England, Lotte moved to New Zealand in 2016 and has since gained extensive experience in various mental health settings including work with paediatric diabetes and complex pain management at Starship Hospital in Auckland. Now based in Christchurch, she runs her own private practice called Ascent Psychology whilst also working alongside the eating disorder service, Axis sport medicine and is part of the healthcare team behind Femmi. With a background in ultra running and endurance events Lotte has personal insights into the mental aspects of athletic performance and is particularly passionate about empowering women in sport. In this episode we explore the pros and cons of social media apps like Strava and Instagram, discuss the harm of filters and unattainable beauty standards, navigate the athlete mindset, and tackle issues surrounding self-worth, perfectionism and the impacts of under fuelling on the brain. So join us as we unpack these critical topics and learn some valuable strategies for enhancing both mental wellbeing and athletic performance. We hope you enjoy!
