Bloomfield is facing decreasing gross receipts tax revenue partly because of the downturn in oil and gas activity. Residents are being asked to vote on a 1/4 of 1% gross receipts tax on August 16, 2016. The tax proposal was originally planned to replace grant funding for full-time Bloomfield Fire Fighters, but the resolution says money from the tax (if passed) would go to the city's general fund and the Bloomfield City Council would decide how it is spent.
