Our children are defensive and argumentative when they feel they're in the wrong. Why? Because often, being wrong is not acceptable at home. It equals failure, shame, embarrassment; they liken going wrong to being wrong. Parents can then get into an unhealthy loop of backing down and letting the child win - for a quiet life. But what consequences does that have for the child's self esteem later in life?
