Local TD calls for Government to establish single 5G rural network

A local TD is calling for the Government to establish a single 5G network- to provide 100% coverage to rural areas. 

Deputy Denis Naughten says under the newly launched National Digital Strategy - the target is only to cover all populated areas by 2030. 

He argues this is a very low benchmark and more needs to be done. 

Deputy Naughten says there's already plans to rollout a 5G network exclusively for emergency services - and this could also serve rural areas with no coverage.
