Kirsten started her career with journalism, specifically freelance working and left to pursue internships with NASA in hopes of a more regular schedule. Since then, she has taken on the role of a science communicator, which she says was great training for communicating complicated science topics to kids. Kirsten left NASA after having her children and their curiosity about nonfiction science inspired her to start writing children’s nonfiction picture books of her own.
