Chef Tommaso Iorio who is an Italian Born Chef located in Los Angeles who owns a catering company called Tuscany At Home with his wife Deana and is also a consultant for the Italian Charcuterie line of Rovagnati joins eHealth Radio and the Nutrition and Health News Channels.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels and guest Chef Tommaso Iorio discuss the following:
Born in Chianti, Tommaso Iorio’s childhood was spent roaming the enchanting landscape of Tuscany. Famed for its lush green hills dotted with vineyards and olive trees, Chianti is also home to some of the finest cuisine in the world. Its rich agricultural and farming heritage, coupled with its production of premium olive oil, has made Chianti the favored source of prime ingredients that are fundamental to Tuscan dishes.
Following a serious accident at the age of five, Tommaso found refuge in his grandmothers’ kitchens in the small town of Panzano, situated atop a hill in the Chianti Classico wine zone. Enveloped by the intoxicating aromas and flavors of Italian cuisine, Tommaso soon found himself immersed in culinary traditions that would kindle the flames of his life-long passion for food.
Tommaso has embraced his passion as an adult, transforming his love for traditional cucina Toscana into a flourishing career. He graduated from the Isituto Technico Agrario di Firenze alle Cascine in Florence, the heart of Tuscany’s vibrant culinary scene, before pursuing various opportunities in the hospitality and wine industry. In 2013, he began working under fellow Panzano Tuscan and world-renowned artisanal butcher Dario Cecchini. A much beloved mentor, Dario taught Tommaso the intricacies of navigating a successful butcher shop, particularly when it comes to providing customers with exceptional service and authentic dining experiences. The two spirited Tuscans can be seen on an episode of Netflix’s Chef’s Table, dedicated to Dario’s illustrious career and the family legacy behind his popular butcher shop in Panzano.
Tommaso met his wife, Deana, while working at Dario’s shop. The couple soon married and moved to Los Angeles. Together, they launched Tuscany at Home, where they offer clients a truly immersive Tuscan dining experience from the comfort of their own homes. Guests watch Tommaso as he prepares food in a traditional Tuscan grill setting, exchanging anecdotes by the fire and sipping sun-kissed wine from the hills of Chianti.
Upholding his grandmothers’ traditions of taking fresh, organic produce and transforming simple ingredients into gourmet dishes, the couple has taken the SoCal private chef scene by storm. Since kickstarting their business over the last two years, they have served more than 250 events across Santa Barbara, Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Pacific Palisades, Sonoma, and Encino. Their diverse clientele base includes A-list celebrities from both the United States and Italy, and they have auctioned off their services for local charity events.
Tommaso also offers cooking classes, where participants prepare classic Tuscan dishes such as Bistecca Alla Fiorentina, Pappa al Pomodoro Pici Toscani and many more. With Tommaso’s guidance, they acquire a finer appreciation of the scrumptious flavors and time-honored techniques that make Tuscan cuisine one of the most revered in the world.
Tuscany at Home embodies the spirit of its namesake, bringing to life the expression “Mangia bene, Ridi Spesso e Ama Molto.” Eat well, laugh often, love much.
