Laurel Parmet makes her directorial debut with The Starling Girl, starring Eliza Scanlen, who plays our main character Jem. Jem is a 17 year old girl, starting to feel guilt over her hormones and impure thoughts, which leads to an affair with a youth pastor in Owen, played by Lewis Pullman.
