Every year is a gamble for local farmers, but inflation is raising the stakes. Family farming has been in the Peter’s family for four generations. Peters’ Farm has been a staple in the town of Salem since 1911. The family says they survived COVID-19, a wet 2021 farming season, now they are facing record-high inflation.
“So many challenges, increased prices for labor, fertilizer feeds, fuel, parts for equipment. I haven’t found one thing this year that has stayed the same”, Owner John Peters told Jack Heath.
