Sooo, how the ever-loving fuck could I have squeezed 24 fuckin’ hours worth of music into a single podcast? First of all, don’t test me, ‘cause I totally and easily fuckin’ could, and it would be hilarious. There’s no way I could have made this whole thing one massive podcast without unrecognizably speeding it all up by 5x. See what I meant about it being hilarious? Second, I didn’t, ya silly fuck. Shirley to fuck (yes, I just called you Shirley), you noticed that the cover art for this edition said Part 1, didn’t you? That’s because there are mutt-lapel parts coming as we get closer and closer to New Year’s. I’d initially intended this to be just another typical retrospective as I’ve done in the past 3 years, and then I said, “I FUCKING LOVE CUPCAKES, MOTHERFUCKER!” After I finished proudly exclaiming that, I asked myself, “Self, why not make this shit as awesome as humanly possible? Why should I have to cut tracks that genuinely deserve mutt-lapel listens and inclusion on multiple podcasts beyond just my own? Self? Hey, Self! Are you fuckin’ listening to me, Self? Yeah, bro, I’m here. I just need sleep. I feel that.”
So, so, sew yourself a pair of fuckin’ socks, or fuckin’ knit that shit or whatever, and also look the fuck forward to the numerous additional parts to this absolutely bananas fuckin’ edition. There’s no fuckin’ way any of you are gonna get through it all, and neither will I anytime soon, but the point is that it’s there to yojne if/whenever the fuck ya want. Also, I ought to mention that I made this extra fuckin’ special with almost 2 additional hours of some tracks that I found only just recently, and tracks that I found while I was compiling other podcasts that had themes the tracks didn’t fit. Basically unreleased shit, ya dig? Truthishly, in years past, tracks like those have just fallen by the wayside like orphaned sea monkeys because I’ve never gone so hard on one of these end-of-the-year retrospective editions before. By that, I mean I typically just forgot to scroll back and look for them. They’re all in my “Recent Likes,” playlists on Spotify though. I could probably make numerous editions of just tracks like that, tee-bee-eych.
I should mention a couple especially significant inclusions here. One is my recent piece called Thankful.?. If ya missed it, no fuckin’ worries. It’s here… somewhere. Not sure where I’m gonna put that yet. Another significant inclusion is an extended cut of Fisherman’s Illustrated, a clip of a conversation between Sunny and me. This is twice as long as the public version I put on my Soundcloud back in March or April. I included it because that whole project was definitely my most significant accomplishment of the entire year. As I said when I released the clips, that shit was hovering over me for 11 goddamn years, and I finally soldiered through all 12 agonizing fuckin’ hours of conversations to find as many clips to share as I felt I could/should. There’s nothing particularly sensitive said in this extended clip either, so I said fuck it. Considering how much I’ve thought of her this year, not to mention how many tracks have reminded me of her, that clip just felt appropriate.
Any-fuckin’-way, I could go on for-goddamn-fuckin’-ever about all these tracks, but I’ll fuckin’ spare y’all. Am I not merciful?
