We tell fascinating stories of freedom on this Independence Day weekend special. Dan Grunfeld is an exceptional author of a terrific new book, By the Grace of the Game: The Holocaust, a Basketball Legacy, and an Unprecedented American Dream. By the Grace of the Game: The Holocaust, a Basketball Legacy, and an Unprecedented American Dream: Grunfeld, Dan, Allen, Ray: 9781629379227: Amazon.com: Books
Ernie Grunfeld was basketball star in the 1970s and 1980s, as a NY high schooler, then a Tennessee Vols’ star, before excelling for over a decade in the NBA. But the really interesting story, told by his son Dan, is how Ernie Grunfeld and his family survived the Holocaust and communism before escaping Romania for NYC.
Dan Grunfeld’s grandmother, Unyu, is a remarkable survivor who made a miraculous escape and thrived when she got to America. This exceptionally well-written book and author are full of stories of American freedom as the Grunfeld family found its American Dream.
Troubadour Dave Gunders has a remarkable father, Henry Gunders, featured on Episode 21. Now, we meet Dave’s wonderful daughter Rachel Gunders. Henry Gunders’ granddaughter is an accomplished twenty-something NYC investment banker with exceptional wisdom.
Rachel Gunders weighs in on the game-changing testimony of former Trump White House official, twenty-something Cassidy Hutchinson, and the explosive (with ketchup) J6 Committee hearings. The Dobbs abortion case reversing Roe v Wade is also discussed with this delightful and wise young woman.
As show wraps up second year, we return to our inaugural song of Fourth of July, with Rachel singing beautiful harmony with her Troubadour father. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zftAQ7aWX9s
