Colonel Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir, now 69 years old, escaped from the Pakistan army as a young officer in August of 1971 carrying blueprints of Pakistan's offensive plans, which he handed over to the Indian army, and then made his way back to East Pakistan where he commanded the Mukti Bahini in Sylhet region. In this interview with Strategic Affairs editor Jyoti Malhotra, Col Sajjad talks about his memories of the 1971 genocide by the Pakistan army which massacred three million of his countrymen and women.
