There are three ways in which the ongoing Ladakh fracas could be resolved. The first, an early resolution to status quo ante, second, a prolonged standoff through the winter and third, a shooting war. China believes it can take on each of its protagonists, that its time has come to take what belongs to it. Moreover, Uncle Sam is far away, so China is telling the region that it has to learn to come to terms with the new big power on the block.
