Health & Fitness
One week til we pack our bags & head up to Therapy Expo 2022 at the NEC Birmingham, November 23rd & 24th. The STA has proudly been a part of Therapy Expo every year since its launch in 2013 at Manchester Central. In 2016, when Therapy Expo moved to the NEC Birmingham, the STA followed, with a clear mission of supporting its members and helping raise standards within the industry. This year, like last year, we bring you our dedicated 'STA Open Theatre', offering you two full days of quality speakers.
Over the nine years of Therapy Expo, speakers have come and gone, but one that has stood the test of time and will be once again both chairing and presenting this year is Mike James 'The Endurance Physio'.
Mike holds a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy and Bachelors degrees in Sports Rehabilitation and Sports Science. He is a former military Physical Training Instructor who has spent over 20 years working with novice to elite endurance athletes. He has a long career as an endurance athlete completing over 100 marathons and ultra-marathons, 14 Ironman Triathlon and many other ultra-distance events. He is Director of The Endurance Physio, providing treatment to athletes and education for clinicians working with endurance athletes.
In this episode of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, we chat with Mike about his extensive career and how over the years he has modified his working practice to suit the time at hand. Mike gives some excellent advice on how soft tissue therapists can be successful in giving their career longevity, and stay up to date with modern practice.
Mike also tells about his presentations at this year's Therapy Expo, all in Theatre B:

Our sincere thanks to Mike James for giving up his time to be a guest on the show. Remember, Mike will be presenting in Theatre B at Therapy Expo on the Wednesday 09:55– 10:25 'Supercharging your subjective: how to avoid the biggest mistakes we all make at the start of an assessment' and on the Thursday 10:35– 11:05 'Making the other 167 hours matter: why it's so important to influence what they do when they aren't in clinic and how to do it.' and 14:10– 14:40 'Give less but do more!: the only three exercise progressions you'll ever need for any exercise.'
