In episode three of our minisode miniseries, we sit down with Anabel Maldonado from ACLU of Arizona’s Demand to Learn Initiative.
ACLU received $125,000 for Demand to Learn, funded in partnership by Vitalyst and the Arizona Community Foundation, to extend and invest in its partnerships with three key community groups: Black Mothers Forum, Morning Star Leaders, Inc. and Rising Youth Theatre.
Demand to Learn is working to transform disciplinary policies that disproportionately affect people of color. This community group investment is designed to support the capacity for community members to become peers and co-leaders in the movement to keep kids in schools, improve students’ physical and mental health and ultimately provide for greater economic stability.
