The EU and US have officially launched a global pledge to reduce methane emissions by at least thirty percent (30%) from 2020 levels by the end of the decade.
The launch of the pledge was made today at the COP26 climate change event in Glasgow.
During the launch, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen said more than eighty countries had signed up to the pledge.
She said reducing methane emissions will ‘immediately slow down climate change’.
